CAMP CHALLENGE 2010

June 13 - 18, 2010

Camp Challenge, a special summer camp for youth with asthma and diabetes, is partnered with and directed by Wake Med and other volunteer medical teams trained in dealing with these special medical needs.  Camp Challenge 2009 was alot of fun!  Over 100 campers attended and had an amazing week!  It was a great time, plus lots learned about asthma and diabetes.  (See News/Events/Photos Tab for 2009 picturesCool)

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Having Asthma or Diabetes doesn't keep anyone from having fun at CAMP CHALLENGE!

Our program is designed for challenging, inspiring, fun-filled activities that contribute to the physical, mental and spiritual development of each camper.

Christian values and ideals are presented in an atmosphere of gentleness, understanding and love.

In addition to the many exciting activities offered at Camp Challenge, campers will attend regular sessions under professional leadership dealing with better self-care, developing self-esteem, and educational information on asthma and diabetes. Scheduled peak flow checks and blood glucose monitoring are built into daily activities.

cc2008camper.jpg At Camp Challenge, children meet other kids like themselves as they learn to accept and live with their physical challenges.

Instead of feeling “left out” as they often do, the camper will gain new self-confidence and improved self-esteem.

Each camper will receive personal attention to his or her emotional and physical needs including rest, special diet, and 24 hour on-site medical care.
